The Blues were linked to a move for Barkley last summer alongside Tottenham, but the 24-year-old opted to wait for the winter window before deciding on his future. He has been nursing a hamstring injury since August, and recently shared a picture of a scar on the back of his thigh.
He also recently returned to first-team training, and Law reports he is nearing a full recovery just in time to pique Chelsea’s interest once again. Barkley has yet to feature for the Toffees this season, and will be out of contract in the summer if he does not sign a new deal.
According to Law, that’s what Tottenham is hoping for, with the club willing to wait for Barkley to become a free agent before making a move. But Everton and Chelsea reportedly wish to have the matter settled by the end of the January transfer window.
Barkley has been with Everton since the 2011-12 season, making 150 Premier League appearances, scoring 21 goals, and recording 18 assists.
