The two clubs only ever met once before the Champions League era, with both sides winning their home legs 2-0. In those days, FCB 1 / 7
Champions League Quarter Final (1999/00)
It was another 34 years before the teams met in an official encounter again. Barça lost 3-1 at Stamford Bridge, but won by the MIGUEL RUIZ – FCB 2 / 7
Champions League Round of 16 (2004/05)
This was the first of four meetings in just five years. Barça got off to a fine start with a 2-1 win at the Camp Nou with goals from MIGUEL RUIZ – FCB 3 / 7
Champions League Round of 16 (2005/06)
Under Frank Rijkaard, Barça got their revenge on Jose Mourinho the year later by winning 2-1 at the Bridge with a John Terry MIGUEL RUIZ – FCB 4 / 7
Champions League Group Stage (2006/07)
This was the only time that the teams have shared a first round group. Chelsea won 1-0 at Stamford Bridge and they drew 2-2 at the MIGUEL RUIZ – FCB 5 / 7
Champions League Semi Final (2008/09)
Following a 0-0 draw at the Camp Nou, Barça went down to an Essien goal and a place in the Rome final was slipping away. MIGUEL RUIZ – FCB 6 / 7
Champions League Semi Final (2011-12)
The most recent official meeting between the clubs was another memorable affair. Chelsea led 1-0 from the first leg, But Chelsea played really well, and if they can reproduce that level Camp Nou, you never know – though it seems unlikely that Barca, with Dembele fitter and the pitch bigger, will be as blunt.
